Author’s Notes

My Family’s Favorite Part of Cane’s

My family loves Cane’s for the fries and chicken, but the sauce is the real obsession. After developing a baked version of their tenders, I needed a matching sauce—this is it.

It’s creamy, tangy, slightly smoky, and full of flavor. Note: the sauce benefits from time in the fridge. Right after mixing it will be mild, but after a few hours—and especially by the next day—the flavors meld and it tastes very close to Cane’s.

All the ingredients in this recipe prepped out for easy assembly including the salt, sugar, mayo, Worcestershire, ketchup, garlic powder, pepper, creole.

Cane’s Sauce Recipe Ingredients

Ingredient Notes
Mayo & ketchup Use good-quality mayo and ketchup for the best base flavor—Best Foods mayo and Heinz ketchup work well.
Worcestershire sauce Adds depth—use sparingly.
Black pepper & Creole seasoning Gives the signature peppery kick; adjust to taste. Coarse-ground black pepper gives more texture than fine-ground.
Garlic powder Provides a smooth garlic note without overpowering the sauce.
Sugar Balances acidity and rounds out the flavor.

Quick Tip

Taste and adjust—an extra pinch of salt or a dash more Worcestershire can brighten the flavors.

All the Cane's sauce recipe ingredients whisked together in a bowl.

Serve It Cold!

This Cane’s Sauce tastes best chilled—serve it straight from the fridge alongside hot chicken and fries.

How To Use This Cane’s Sauce Recipe

  • Dip for chicken tenders & nuggets: The classic and always a crowd-pleaser.
  • Fries & sweet potatoes: Great for dunking or drizzling.
  • Spread for burgers & sandwiches: Use it instead of mayo for extra flavor.
  • Drizzle over bowls: Lovely on burger bowls and grain bowls.
  • Veggie dip: Works well with carrots, celery, and bell peppers.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days. Keep it sealed so it doesn’t absorb other flavors and stir before serving if it settles.
